According to the epic Mahabharata, Karna by birth was spiritual son of Surya the sun god and Kunti the mother of Pandavas. So, he was a demi-god. However, he was brought up by a charioteer because Kunti had abandoned him adrift in a basket on the Ganges. So, Karna was rejected by all teachers including Dron Acharya. So, Karna adorned himself as a brahmin's son and went to Parashurama who was Guru of Brahmins. He learnt the Vedas, Upanishads, Archery and Use of high celestial weapons like Brahmastra. When Sage Parashurama came to know that Karna had lied about his caste, he cursed him that his Brahmastra would be forgotten when he is in a fight with person of equal valor.

The real teacher of Karna was lord Parshuram and Karna was a member from very lower caste and only because of that he was got rejected by some teachers and he was studied under Parshuram by lying that he belongs to Brahmin caste and later his teacher understood that he lied to him about which caste he belongs to and he was cursed by his teacher because of this .

According to the Hindi mythology book Mahabharata, The teacher of the Karna (surya putra)(son of charioteer) was The Sage Parshurama because Karna was denied for the schooling by the Guru Dhronacharya.

Parshurama was the real guru of Karna. When Karna approached Dronacharya to taught him, Dronacharya rejected Karna. Because Karna was a (sootputra) belongs to lower caste. Then he decided to gain the skills from Dronacharya's own guru Parshurama.

Karna was a sutputra(son of a charioteer),he was denied schooling by Dronacharya. So,to compete against his students,Karna lied to Parshurama that he's a Brahmin and learnt all the warfare from him. When the truth was revealed,he cursed Karna that he would forget all his knowledge at the most important war of his life. And so he was killed at the final war of Mahabharata by Arjuna.
